# Billing

> How to add credit, set a payment method, turn on auto-recharge, and see what your organization has used — the Billing and Credits and Usage & Invoices tabs.

## Where billing lives

Click **Organization** in the sidebar. Two tabs cover billing:

* **Billing and Credits** — your credit balance, payment method, and automatic credit purchasing.
* **Usage & Invoices** — dashboards for invoices, usage, and credits.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Both tabs are for organization **Admin**s only. Other members see *Unavailable* in place of the balance
> and payment method, and cannot open the dashboards. See [what needs an admin](https://docs.amplify.security/console/organization.md#what-needs-an-organization-admin).

## Billing and Credits

The tab is three rows.

### Payment Method

The card or Link account on file for the organization, or *No payment method on file*. Click the edit icon
next to it to open the billing portal, where you add or replace the payment method and billing address.
Console never shows or stores card details itself — the portal does.

### Credit Balance

Your current balance in USD. A purchase that is still settling shows underneath as *pending payment* until
it lands.

To add credit, click **Add credit**, pick **$100**, **$500**, or **\$1,000**, or enter a custom amount, and
click **Purchase**. The dialog shows what you'll be charged for the credit before you confirm. The charge
goes to the organization's default payment method.

**Add credit** is disabled when a purchase can't be collected, with the reason underneath:

* *A payment method is required to purchase credits* — click **Add payment method** to open the portal.
* *A billing address is required to purchase credits* — click **Add address**; tax can't be calculated
  without one.

### Automatic Credit Purchasing

Auto-recharge keeps the balance from running dry: when it drops below a threshold you set, Console charges
the default payment method and adds a fixed amount of credit. The row shows the rule in force — *When below
$X, purchase $Y* — or *Off*.

To turn it on, click the edit icon on the row and fill in:

* **Recharge when balance drops below (USD)** — the threshold, at least **\$500**.
* **Amount of credit to add (USD)** — the recharge, which must be greater than the threshold so the balance
  lands back above it.

Click **Save**. To change the rule later, edit it the same way; **Turn off** inside the dialog removes it.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Auto-recharge needs a payment method on file with a billing address. Until there is one, the row reads
> *Off* and the edit icon explains what's missing.

## Usage and invoices

**Usage & Invoices** holds three dashboards, switched with the buttons at the top:

| Dashboard | Shows |
| - | - |
| **Invoices** | Your invoices |
| **Usage** | How much credit your organization has consumed over time — the place to see what you've used this month |
| **Commits & Credits** | Credit purchases and commitments |

The dashboards are embedded from Console's billing provider and load on demand; if one fails to load, click
**Try again**.
