What it’s for

Reading the context your team keeps in Notion — threat models, runbooks, architecture notes — and writing up what agents find. A chat agent reads the design doc for the service it’s analyzing; a workflow step appends a run summary to a standing status page or creates a review page under the parent you name.

What agents can see

A Notion connection sees only the pages and databases you share with it. You choose them in the page picker during authorization, and you can share more at any time from a page’s ••• → Connections menu. Nothing else in the workspace exists as far as agents are concerned — a freshly connected Notion with nothing shared looks empty to them. Sharing a page shares its children too, so sharing a top-level “Engineering” page is the usual shortcut.

Before you connect

  1. Create the bot Notion account and invite it to the workspace(s) agents should work in. See the bot account.
  2. Sign your browser into the bot account, then follow the connect flow.
  3. In Notion’s authorization page, select the pages and databases agents may use before approving.
The connection asks Notion for these capabilities: read content, insert content, read and insert comments, and read user information without email addresses. It does not ask to update or delete existing content.

What agents can do

When a page isn’t found, agents are instructed to treat that as “not shared with the connection” and ask you to share it, rather than concluding the page doesn’t exist.

What agents can’t do

  • Edit or delete existing content — only append to a page or create a new one
  • Query a database by property (filter rows by status, owner, date). Database rows are pages and are found by title only
  • Comment on pages
  • Reach any page that hasn’t been shared with the connection

Disconnecting in Console deletes Amplify’s stored authorization. To remove Notion’s side of the grant too, sign in as the bot account and remove Amplify Console under Settings → Connections.
